Do I need to book to swim?

No, you can walk-in and pay on the gate. This is subject to availability, so to avoid disappointment we recommend booking in advance for our most popular session.

Do you allow dogs on site?

Sorry, we do not allow any animals on site, except guide dogs. We also do not allow unattended dogs to be left anywhere on our site. This includes in parked cars or tied to railings outside the lido or on the pontoon/riverside area.

Which lane speed should I select?

Slow Lane swimmers are likely to swim most of session breaststroke and take over 1 minute to complete one 30 metre length.

Slow-Medium Lane swimmers are likely to swim most of session breaststroke and take over 45 seconds to complete one 30 metre length.

Fast-Medium Lane swimmers are likely to use a variety of strokes and will regularly complete one 30 metre length in 40-45 seconds.

Fast Lane swimmers will swim the majority of session front crawl and will complete one 30 metre length in approximately 30 seconds.

How long can I stay once I have paid for entry?

There is no time limit on when you must leave the lido site, after your swim you are more than welcome to stay on site to use our facilities. You will have a fixed amount of pool time, after which you will be called from the pool. Please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before your session start time. You can book back-to-back sessions, or a double Fun Swim if you want to stay longer, though you will be asked to vacate the pool during the gaps between sessions.

How old do I need to be to use the inflatable?

Any age! We welcome everyone on our inflatable. Those who cannot swim, or are wearing floatation aids (armbands, buoyancy vests etc.) will need to exit the inflatable via the side chute into the shallow end. Under 8's must be accompanied on the inflatable.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Customers are welcome to bring their own picnics, however we do have a café on site which sells a wide range of hot and cold food and drinks.

Am I allowed to bring my own inflatables or toys?

Customers are welcome to bring their own inflatables and toys, but we ask customers to check with a Duty Manager before taking them into the pool.

Do you have public lockers?

We have a number of lockers on site which take a returnable £1 coin or trolley token.

What are the opening times of the café?

The Kiosk serves hot drinks, cold drinks, sweets and ice creams during all sessions.

The café serves hot food 9:30am-6:00pm at weekends and school holidays, though these times may vary according to the pool timetable.

Can I bring my own chairs and parasols?

Although we have our own benches, chairs, parasols and sun loungers, customers are welcome to bring their own seating and umbrellas. Items such as large sun shades, tents and gazebos are not permitted.

Do you sell sun-cream?

Unfortunately we do not stock suncream. Please come prepared, and if possible apply your suncream before arriving at the lido.

Do you sell swimwear?

Unfortunately, we do not sell swimwear, but we do sell armbands, beach balls, footballs, inflatable rings, sinkers, swim hats and goggles.

Can I pay by card or cash?

When booking online, payment is made by card through our booking system. Most card types are accepted including Apple Pay.

When paying at the gate, customers can pay using card or cash. Card and cash payments are also accepted at the cafe.

We accept most major credit and debit cards and Apple Pay.

Can I use flippers, snorkels and mono-fins?

Customers are welcome to use flippers, snorkels and mono-fins at the discretion of the manager. Please ask for permission before using them. The use of full mermaid tails is not permitted.

Can I hire the pool?

Absolutely! We offer the lido for private functions or parties, which can include the inflatable and cafe too, in the evenings from 7pm. Clubs are able to hire the pool for their activities. If you're interested in hiring the lido for the evening, please email matt@beccleslido.com.

Can I wear a wetsuit?

Yes you can, but please wash them thoroughly before entering the water, particularly if you use the suit in the river or sea.

I have lost something at the lido, can I get it back?

Yes please! We keep all lost property for a maximum period of 1 week due to storage limitations and the vast quantity we receive. Please call or email us to check if we have your item (bookings@beccleslido.com). Claimed items will be stored for 1 week from their claim date for you to collect.

All lost property not collected is donated to local good causes or recycled where possible.

 General
 • The safe operation of Beccles Lido for you and our staff is our priority. There will be no challenging of these policies with management or staff – failure to comply will result in your use of the lido being suspended.
 • Beccles Lido and its management reserve the right to review and amend session prices, timings, type, and durations, and where possible notify customers with a minimum of 1 days’ notice.
 Pool Rules
 • Pool safety and admission rules apply and are available on request from the lido reception.
 • Children under the age of eight must be accompanied in the water by a parent or responsible adult aged 16 or over, with at least one responsible adult for every two children. Our full admissions policy is available on request.
 • It is the responsible adult’s responsibility to provide flotation devices for any child who requires theses aids.
 • Poolside safety rules are displayed for customer reference. Customers must adhere to the pool safety signage and rules.
 • You may be issued a coloured paper session band upon entry. Your session band colour will be called out via the pool announcement system to signify the session end. Customers must leave the pools swiftly at the end of their session.
 • You may be issued with an additional coloured rubber band. This band colour may be called when the pool is significantly busy, with customers asked to vacant the pool for 20 minutes, before re-entering. 
 Cancellations and Refunds
 • Should you wish to cancel your swims, please get in touch with us via email on bookings@beccleslido.com no less than 72 hours before your session. A refund will be issued to you, minus any booking or card fees.
 • We regret that refunds will not be issued for swims cancelled with less than 72 hours’ notice.
 • Failure to attend will not result in a refund and requests for a refund following a failure to attend will be dismissed.
 • Transfers can be requested up to 48 hours before your booked swim. Transfers are not guaranteed as sessions may be fully booked or unavailable.
 • Inflatable sessions may be cancelled or downgraded to Swim & Fun with no advance warning as a result of unfavourable weather conditions or mechanical failure. Refunds will not be available in such instances.
 Unforeseen Cancellations
 • As a result of unforeseen events or circumstances, the pool may have to close temporarily.
 • Details of refund entitlement:
 1. 50-minute sessions: Refunds will be issued on request if you do not have more than 30 minutes of swim time.
 2. 60-minute sessions: Refunds will be issued on request if you do not have more than 40 minutes of swim time.
 3. 90-minute sessions: Refunds will be issued on request if you do not have more than 60 minutes of swim time.
 4. 120+ minute sessions: Refunds will be issued on request if you do not have more than 80 minutes of swim time.
 5. If your session is cancelled completely, you will receive a full refund.
 Thunderstorm Cancellations
 • In the event of thunderstorms, we must clear the pool immediately when lightning strikes are detected within 5 miles of the lido. An ‘all clear’ to re-enter the water will be given 30 minutes after the last strike occurs within 5-miles.
 • Refunds will be issued on request as set out in the above “Unforeseen Circumstances” section.
 
 Arrival
 • Do not arrive for your session any earlier than 10 mins before the session start time. Your booking gives you guaranteed access to that session so there is no need to arrive earlier.
 • Strictly no entry later than 30 minutes before the end of your session.
 • We have very limited parking so ensure you leave plenty of time to park and get to the Lido. We cannot accept late entry or refund sessions missed due to being unable to park.
 • No matter what your arrival time is, you must still vacate the water at the session end time, or earlier if you wish.
 • Due to high demand for the lido facilities at certain times, we cannot guarantee access to the facility immediately.
 Rules and Regulations of Use (General)
 • Beccles Lido seeks to maintain high standards throughout the lido and expects all users and hirers to contribute to this.
 • Users may be held responsible for any damage caused by them or others during their session/event/activity.
 • Beccles lido will provide lifeguards for all public swimming sessions.
 • All customers must ensure that all attendees/participants of all events/activities show consideration towards local residents living near the lido – particularly during the evening and early morning. Noise levels shall be kept at a level which is acceptable, as advised by the Duty Manager.
 • All areas shall be left clean, tidy, and free from damage.
 • Appropriate clothing must be worn for all activities. High heeled shoes must not be worn on poolside.
 • Any accident, injury or damage must be reported to Lido Staff immediately.
 • Parking must be in designated parking places only. Only cars displaying blue badges may park in the disabled bays.
 • Access to the lower car park is reserved solely for disabled customers with a Blue Badge, staff, and deliveries. No access shall be granted to the general public for any reason.
 • Any photography or video recording is strictly prohibited. Any photography or video recording should be reported to staff. Exemptions may apply and will be granted by the Duty Manager or General Manager on a case-by-case basis.
 • The lido and carefully selected third parties may carry out general filming and sound recording. Admission to the lido signifies your consent to them being used in perpetuity and in all media without any rights to payment. Please speak with a member of lido staff or the film/recording staff if you are unwilling or unable to be recorded.
 • No equipment can be stored on site without written consent of the General Manager. This may be subject to a charge.
 • The following must not be brought into the premises without the written permission of the General Manager: Crockery and glass; Pets (except guide dogs); Electrical equipment; Hazardous substances.
 • Alcohol is strictly prohibited and must not be brought onto Beccles Lido premises.
 Rules and Regulations Additions (Swimming Pool)
 • Respect that people of all different standards and abilities will use the pool and respect their right to enjoy their swim.
 • Respect other swimmers and adjust your stroke accordingly.
 • We divide the pool into different lane speeds to make lane swimming as smooth as possible.
 • If you need to overtake someone, please be patient, tap their foot and wait for them to stop to allow you to pass.
 • If you notice someone faster than yourself, allow them to pass between lengths.
 • Butterfly and backstroke should be avoided unless you’re well practiced. If in doubt, please speak to a member of staff.
 • If you need to rest between lengths, be mindful that other swimmers will want to continue swimming. Move to the left corner of your lane and remain as clear of the lane as possible.
 • If you need to stay hydrated whilst swimming, your own pre-filled water bottle may be brought onto poolside.
 • All participants must shower before entering the pool to remove any grease, dirt, or chemicals.
 • Wearing a swim hat will help to protect your hair and reduce water pollution.
 • Follow the Pool Rules as displayed.
 • Surfaces in the pool area are always wet, please take care and always walk.
 • Do not swim if you have just consumed food or drink, or if you have an upset stomach. We recommend that food should not be consumed within 30 minutes of swimming.
 • Lockers are provided for the security of your belongings. Please use them and help us keep our activity areas tidy by not bringing kit bags, coats, and other items onto poolside. Lockers operate on a £1-coin returnable basis.
 • The wearing of jewellery is not permitted, except where permission has been expressly given by the Duty Manager
 • Open wounds should be covered with a waterproof plaster. Verruca should be covered by a protective sock.
 • Before your swim, please ensure that staff are notified of any relevant medical conditions.
 • Appropriate swimwear should be worn at all times.
 • The use of swimming goggles is permitted.
 • The use of half-face or full-face masks, or snorkels are not permitted without the authorisation of the Duty Manager.
 • The use of flippers or fins are not permitted without the authorisation of the Duty Manager.
 • The use of mermaid tails or mono-fins are strictly prohibited during public sessions.
 • To prevent embarrassment, please ensure that young children have visited the toilet prior to entering the water.
 Memberships and Season Tickets.
 • Beccles Lido reserves the right to amend or withdraw any and all membership or season ticket options without prior warning.
 • Members or season ticket holders will have their memberships terminated if failing to abide by the terms and condition or rules.
 • We reserve the right to terminate a membership at any time without notice.
 • Membership termination may be without refund or compensation if in breach of terms and conditions.
 • Membership/season tickets are for the named individual only. Sharing use with others constitutes a breach of our terms.
 Rules and Regulations Additions (Changing Cubicles/Areas)
 • Any articles we find, including items left in lockers at the end of the day will be removed.
 • We are required to keep most items of found clothing/equipment etc for one week. We do not keep items of underwear, hairbrushes, and combs etc. for hygiene reasons.
 • Public nudity is not permitted. All customers, of all ages must remain fully clothed when in view of the public. This includes small children and all customers using the outdoor showering area.
 Rules and Regulations Additions (Group Exercise)
 • Class cancellations and refunds will be advised dependant on the circumstances of the cancellation. A full refund, to the calculated value of a particular session, will be paid if the class is fully cancelled in advance. If a class is terminated while in progress, the standard refund policy will apply as set out in the “Unforeseen Circumstances” section.
 Disclaimer/Limitation of Liability
 • You should not exercise beyond your own abilities. If you know or are concerned that you have a medical condition which might interfere with you exercising safely, you should seek advice from a medical professional before exercising.
 • Beccles Lido accepts no responsibility for the loss of, or damage to, property or injury, illness or death on its premises unless caused by its own negligence.
 • Our total liability to you is limited to the fees you have actually paid for the relevant event/activity, and we shall not be liable for any loss of enjoyment or wasted expenditure.
 • Personal arrangements including travel, accommodation or hospitality relating to an event which have been arranged by you are at your own risk.
 • Beccles Lido cannot be held responsible if you do not receive event information unless such non-receipt is caused by our negligence.
 • These terms and conditions are a contract between you and us. No other person shall have any right to enforce terms.
 • We may revise our terms and conditions from time to time, for example to reflect changes in relevant laws or regulatory requirements or improvements/changes we make to Beccles Lido events and related services.
 • We reserve the right to request that any person leaves an event if that person’s conduct is unacceptable (in the Duty Managers reasonable opinion). No refund of fees or any other costs will be made in these circumstances.
